Personal Development
Formal training, performance experiences, leadership roles and exposure to creativity have informed my development as a performer.
By spending four years working with and with my audience at Northampton College and continuing my studies in Dance & Professional Practice at the University of Bedfordshire, I believe I have the technical and the business qualifications to start developing a career in the live performing arts.
Through such training, I've learned to be more of a ‘real performer’ and gain a better understanding of rehearsal discipline and the creative process of production and professional practice. I was a dance captain while at Northampton College for a large part of it. It was an assignment which trained me to take charge, be dependable and feel confident, in rehearsals and during acting. It further enhanced my ability to be supportive to others, remain centered in a group work and serve positively within an ensemble. However, this wasn’t the only lesson I have taken; I also learnt group performing, performing by myself, creativity projects through which I have changed as a writer and been able to become more flexible and reacting in performing role.
By teaming closely with directors, choreographers and technical personnel (lighting, sound) has also afforded a better idea of how to create performance work as a whole product of the production process. My evolution has not been limited to live performance. I am confident in video production and editing as I have a new and deeper understanding of video-oriented-product photography, video-animating arts and digital editing.
What’s more, I work to become an ever-more fit performere during physical fitness sessions, adding strength, energy and tenacity into my tool kit as I perform at the high-velocity of performance arenas. Collectively, the experiences have enhanced my individual development as an all rounded performer who is disciplined and informed by industry expectations.
